Even with a rapid start at the beginning of the year, I was unable to reach my Goodreads.com reading challenge for 2016. Having to work so many hours in December, I fell shy of my challenge of 35 books, missing my goal for the first time since starting the challenge in 2012. As the year closed, however, I found myself enrapt in one that I’d been anxiously anticipating for quite some time, Ron Chernow’s highly regarded biography, Alexander Hamilton – possibly, the best of my 2016 reads.

Though I didn’t reach my goal, it was still a memorable year with lots of good reads. Oh well, maybe next year!
