Not knowing much about the celebrated entrepreneur, I was anxious to take on this highly acclaimed biography of the man behind PayPal, Tesla and SpaceX.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Reminiscent of the biography of Steve Jobs, this is the story of another entrepreneur who has the ability to make what most people feel impossible, become possible. Generally, I like biographies about characters that seem “larger than life” because they show qualities that I can relate to by displaying their mortal side. When it comes to Musk and characters like him, I don’t feel able to relate as they seem to be above human – almost robotic. I sensed the same perception by the author when relating his initial meetings with his subject in the restaurant.

There is definitely a place in the world for the likes of an Elon Musk in order to evolve and keep things fresh and interesting, however, I would rather just let the “super humans” handle that onus, and focus on characters that are more down to earth. This is, of course, just my personal opinion.
